INTERNATIONAL BRODETTO AND FISH SOUPS FESTIVAL
In September every year, Fano hosts Italy’s most important competition for fish stews and soups, the International Brodetto and Fish Soups Festival. Famous chefs from coastal regions gather in Fano to present their stews and soups, from the Tuscan caciucco to the Ligurian ciuppin, from the Sardinian sa cassola sarda to the Pugliese ciambotta. Local products such as wines and extra-virgin oil are the perfect partners for the soups. The event is one where different cultures and peoples come together, sharing their ways of experiencing the sea.
Just as rich and diverse is the repertoire of recipes for the other most important dish of fishermen’s cuisine: the brodetto, a fish stew that carries with it all the flavours of history.
